Defining and Measuring Risk Capacity

New generation models of assessing a client’s profile for investment purposes differentiates among factors like the client’s tolerance for risk which is a psychological trait, the client’s required risk which is a how much risk a client might be required to take to achieve desired goals, and risk capacity which is how much risk the client can afford to take.

Risk tolerance assessments have taken significant strides forward with the introduction of psychometrics, but when it comes to defining risk capacity, the approach remains anecdotal. Client profiling questionnaires may ask one or two questions like “How much risk can you afford to take?” but what is “risk capacity” and how do we measure it?


Beyond Monte Carlo Analysis

The application of Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) in financial planning is a largely misunderstood technology that does not deliver the results as advertised. This paper identifies those misunderstandings and outlines a simpler, more accurate algorithmic approach.

This position is responsible for creating and executing manual and automatized system test cases, capturing and reporting defects, and providing input into metrics.

Job Profile:

We are seeking a QA Tester who loves to work in a multi-cultural environment, loves to solve challenging problems  and is capable of undergoing multi-parallel tasks. This team delivers high-quality production software to Utilities and End Users.

Essential Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Software testing at all levels of test architecture, implementation, execution, regression
  • Supply input to the continuous improvement of the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
  • Execute functional test scenarios and test utilizing user stories contained within Agile Sprints
  • Complete test issues within Zephyr for JIRA
  • Utilize JIRA for tracking defects found during testing
  • Work on multiple projects/ multiple tasks


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or technology related with at least 5 years experience
  • Familiarity with Zephyr and Jira cloud
  • Self-motivated, being innovative and ready to learn
  • Passion for finding bugs, solving problems
  • Experience testing in iOS, as well as web & cloud environments
  • Agile/Scrum experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Selenium – test automation

The Client Services representative is responsible for answering customer questions and helping to solve customer problems associated with PlanPlus’ software. The selected candidate must be able to answer phones, respond to emails, and test PlanPlus’ innovative software in both languages, English and French.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of issues
  • Create and update assigned support tickets
  • Complete work tasks within timeframe given
  • Perform unit and system testing
  • Follow escalation process in dealing with support tickets

Position Summary:

J2EE Developer / Mid-Level Software Developer responsible for the design, development, enhancement, customization and testing of PlanPlus’ innovative software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, unit test, system test, performance tuning for new applications
  • Conduct maintenance coding and debugging

  • Create technical designs and estimates from client requirements
