FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The competition was initiated in order to further enhance the level of professionalism within the Malaysian financial planning community. Our goal was to continue to raise the standards for advisors to ensure that clients receive higher quality advice from their advisors.
“Supporting organizations play a large role in the process as we are dependent on them to get the word out to their members,” said John Page, Awards Chair. “This year’s awards are supported by our founding sponsor, the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM), as well as the Malaysian Financial Planners and Advisers Association (MFPAA), and the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA). We are very fortunate to have the support of these organizations as it makes our job much easier from an organizational standpoint.”
“MFPYA has certainly gained traction since it started in 2015,” said Linnet Lee, Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia. “It is heartening to know that we have seen a steady increase in the number of competitors over the years. These competitors are committed Licensed Financial Planners who are eager to learn and improve upon the construction of their plans in order to develop better financial advice for their clients. Having an MFPYA competitor as their go-to person, gives the public a high level of comfort when they need a good financial roadmap and sound advice. Kudos to past participants and welcome to new ones. In order to have a sustainable income in this profession it’s vital that you raise your bar, keep your integrity and attract quality clients!”
The competition is open to all Malaysian licensed Financial Planners with a current recognized designation (such as CFP, RFP, IFP, ChFC) and who are in good standing with a financial planning or other professional body or association (such as FPAM, AFA, MFPAA) accepted by the regulators. The competition will honor the top three financial planners in Malaysia. Winners will receive cash awards, and will be guaranteed an automatic entry into the finals of the 2018 PlanPlus Global Financial Planning Awards Asia Region competition.
Interested licensed financial planners must submit a real client financial plan (after first obtaining permission from their client), which will then be reviewed by a panel of qualified judges. Each plan will be evaluated based on the specific actions recommended to achieve the client’s goals and enhance their financial well-being. Participants must work with their clients on a fiduciary basis, meaning only solutions that are in the best interest of their clients may be recommended.
“A Licensed Financial Planner is a professional who helps clients design and live their ideal life,” said 2017 MFPYA winner Kevin Neoh. “Hence the work of a Licensed Financial Planner is critical and influential in helping clients pursue their life goals with confidence through effective management of their resources. MFPYA allows planners to have their work evaluated by a panel of seasoned and expert judges with varying cultures and backgrounds. If your work is deemed high quality by the judges then it means you really have added value to your client’s life.”
Several informational webinars will be held throughout March. Interested parties can register from the competition website at http://www.planplus.com/mys/planplusmalaysiafinancialplanningawards.
