The 2017 PlanPlus Global Financial Planning Awards Winners are Announced

Toronto, Ontario, CANADA, Aug 22, 2017 – PlanPlus is proud to announce the winners of the 2017 Global Financial Planning Awards, with Jason Pereira of Toronto, Canada placing first for the Americas region, Thayn Niemand of South Africa coming out on top for Asia and Ricardo van Doormalen from The Netherlands winning for Europe/Australia.

The PlanPlus Global Financial Planning Awards were launched five years ago to increase the recognition of the important role played by financial planning around the world. Top financial planners from three global regions – the Americas, Asia and Europe/Australia – are recognized. Competitors submit a written financial plan that has been presented to an actual client and which clearly shows the delivery of financial advice  focused exclusively on the client’s best interests. Finalists present their plans to a judging panel of top planning experts from around the world.

“This year’s event was outstanding”, said Awards Chair, John Page. “All three competitions were extremely close with two brand new participants coming out on top for both Asia and Europe/Australia regions. It is very rare that a new competitor takes top standings, however the quality, depth and understanding shown by these financial planners was undeniable”, said Page.

Jason Pereira, BA CFA CFP® FCSI CIWM PFP FMA, Partner & Senior Financial Consultant of IPC/Woodgate Financial, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada was chosen as the Americas Region overall winner. This is a second win for Jason, who also took the top honors in 2015. Jason was this year’s first runner-up in the Canada Awards National competition as well, and second runner-up for Canada in 2016. Rose Swanger, BA, CFP®, Advise Finance, LLC, Knoxville, Tennessee, USA who was a two-time winner of the Americas Region in 2014 and 2016, was announced as the first runner-up. Paul Tyers, Managing Director of Wealth Stewards Inc., Toronto, Ontario, Canada placed as second runner-up. Paul was recently chosen as the 2017 Canada Awards competition winner.

Lovaii Navlakhi of International Money Matters, India was announced asThayn Niemand Small Pic first runner-up, while Vishal Dhawan of Plan Ahead India came in as second runner-up.

“The PlanPlus Global Financial Planning Awards gave me an opportunity to have our holistic client centered approach of Financial Planning being judged by an independent international jury”, said Ricardo. “I am very proud that our approach has been acknowledged as being world-class by winning this prestigious award for the Europe region”.

In addition to the global recognition they will receive, Jason, Thayn, and Ricardo will be awarded an all-expenses paid trip to attend the 2017 FPA Annual Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, courtesy of PlanPlus and the Financial Planning Association (USA). This conference is hosted by the FPA and is the largest annual gathering of CFP® professionals, with more than 2,000 financial planners in attendance representing dozens of countries from around the world.

“When we decided to launch the PlanPlus Global Financial Planning Awards in 2013, we wanted to showcase financial planners doing professional, fiduciary-level planning for their clients and transforming the clients’ lives in the process”, said Shawn Brayman President and CEO of PlanPlus Inc. “We had no idea the awards would take off as they have. The response from other countries wanting to participate by running their own national competitions has been incredible. These national competitions feed highly qualified planners into the global competition where planners from around the world go head to head. Three additional competitions are in the works for 2018”, said Brayman.
